Valcare once again hosted an inspiring networking event to connect more than a hundred partners and nonprofit member organisations in the Cape Winelands with one another.
The event took place on Friday 10 May 2019 with the beautiful Ashanti Estate in Paarl serving as the starting and finishing point.
Immersive Community Experiences
To enable a fun networking opportunity and to offer a firsthand glimpse into the wonderful work that a selection of our nonprofit member organisations are doing, interactive experiences were organised throughout the morning.
The attendees divided into four teams to complete a set of volunteer-related tasks at 20 different nonprofit organisations in the Paarl valley area.
The teams had to jump into taxis that took them to their designated organisations where they were given assignments that they had to complete within a certain timeframe with team spirit and enthusiasm. The tasks varied from building blocks at an ECD centre to doing excercises, sorting donated clothes, and planning a meal with R50.
Passionate Organisations Interacting
The organisations that hosted the experiences were: ACVV, Monte Christo Miqlat, CABSA, Mosaic, Khula Development Group, Fountain of Hope, Hope Trust (Turkeys and Eagles), Ma’s vir Wellington, The Message Trust, Ezrah Community Training and Development, Care Career Connection, Little Fighters Trust, Networking for Christ, Inceba Trust, Drakenstein APD Timeless Project, Elevation Programme, First Step Academy, Salt & Light and AHOS.
After the Amazing Race activities were completed, a prize-giving ceremony was held with fun gifts handed over to the winners. The overall winning team were given a lamp as a rotating trophy that they should now move around between team members to ensure further connection and collaboration during the year.
“We wanted to host a networking event with a twist. Something that could be fun, interactive and inspiring, but that would meet the objective of building new connections in the nonprofit space. I think the Amazing Race ticks all of those boxes, and we can’t wait for the 2020 event!,” says Ivan Swartz, CEO of Valcare.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Amazing Race. We’re looking forward to another informative and inspirational event next year.
