Nation Builder’s Organisational Development Pathway (ODP) provides a structured way to understand and strengthen organisations across the key foundations that support resilience, effectiveness and sustainable impact. Organisations enter the pathway at different stages, with assessment helping to identify both existing strengths and the areas where focused development can make the greatest difference.
From there, insight is translated into action. Depending on what is needed, organisations can access relevant learning, practical resources, peer engagement, professional expertise and tailored support through the Nation Builder network — or deeper consulting across organisational development, monitoring and evaluation, and social investment.
The aim is not to move every organisation through the same process. It is to create a more responsive development journey: using evidence to direct the right support at the right time, strengthening organisations in ways that contribute to a more resilient social impact ecosystem.

Nation Builder manages funds and channels them to nonprofit organisations in our membership network.
Investors & Members
Nation Builder facilitates a nonprofit and social investor membership network of hundreds of like-minded organisations across South Africa who are focused on collaboration and collective impact.
Funding Application
Nation Builder coordinates a funding application process for members that is aligned and specific to the Social Investors’ values, strategy, and interests. This falls within an overarching collective impact strategy of mutually reinforcing initiatives.
Partner Selection
Through a strict due diligence and vetting process, potential partners are presented to the Social Investor for final approval with guidance and advice from Nation Builder, based on the potential for the greatest impact.
Monitoring, Evaluation + Support
We measure everything. All funds are professionally managed through a rigorous and unique monitoring, evaluation and reporting process, that includes organisational development plans. By providing guidance and capacity building, Nation Builder ensures funds work as hard as they can for the investor, further amplifying impact.
