Each year during National Women’s Month Valcare honours and highlights 15 exceptional women in the Cape Winelands community. Through the Proteas of the Valley initiative Valcare gives recognition to the women who work tirelessly and selflessly to improve the lives of others.

This year marked the initiative’s tenth anniversary and focused on inspiring empowerment. The women were celebrated at a cocktail event held at Kronenburg Estate in Paarl.

During the event, the women’s stories were shared and there was a strong message of empowerment and upliftment. The evening’s guest speaker Mariette Loubser encouraged the audience to grow where they are planted and to sow the seeds for future generations to reap the rewards.

The Proteas of the Valley initiative started ten years ago to honour women in the Cape Winelands. With this initiative, we want to recognise and celebrate the women who are the change agents in our community. It was such a privilege to be part of the 2022 Protea’s lives during August. Each of these ladies is so special, working selflessly to bring hope to the people they work with,” said Jolanda van der Lingen, Valcare’s Relationship Manager.
