On Tuesday 3 December 2019 the world celebrates Giving Tuesday. It’s a global generosity movement that started a seven years ago, to follow the mass spending that happens the week before on Black Friday and Cyber Monday (this year taking place on 29 November 2019 & 2 December 2019).

This international day of doing good has also expanded into South Africa (#GivingTuesdaySA), with thousands of organisations rallying people to do something to help others.

This year, Valcare along with our media partners Paarl Post and Paarl FM, are focusing on encouraging community members to donate gifts in kind that are still in a decent condition, towards worthy causes in our community.

Many people have cupboards and garages stocked with furniture and appliances that they don’t use. These items could however add tremendous value to nonprofit organisations and their beneficiaries in the valley.

With more than 16 years of experience and a database of more than 250 nonprofit organisations in the Cape Winelands, Valcare is best positioned to receive and distribute these donations effectively. We’ll make sure that they make an actual difference in people’s lives,” says Brendan Smith, COO of Valcare.

Participating in #GivingTuesday is as easy as 1-2-3:

  1. Get the Goods

Go through your house or office and select all the items that are new, or still in a very good condition, that you are willing to donate.
You can also go to the shops and buy some of the items listed on Valcare’s member organisations’ wish lists, or you can donate financially via Valcare’s website.

  1. Drop it off

On Giving Tuesday, 3 December 2019, and for the rest of that week (4-6 December 2019) deliver the items to Valcare’s office in 10 Verster Street, Paarl, between 08:00 and 16:00.

  1. Let it go

Valcare will receive the goods, capture it on the donation system and match it to a nonprofit member organisation that really needs it.
