After gathering online and in small groups for the last two years, the excitement was tangible when Valcare’s network of nonprofit organisations had its first in-person event once again.

Over a hundred people attended the event, representing more than 70 different nonprofit organisations in the Cape Winelands.

“We realised that nonprofit organisations craved human connection, collaboration, and togetherness after a long, demanding, and sometimes traumatic two years.

The event created an opportunity for organisations to network and encourage one another, and to remind us that we are better together,” said Jolanda Van de Lingen, Valcare’s Relationship Manager.

The three-part interactive networking event was held at the beautiful Ashanti Estate in Paarl where, upon arrival, the organisations got an opportunity to network over coffee before getting an overview of the resources and benefits that Valcare offers to its member organisations. They were also introduced to each Valcare staff member through a fun and interactive game before the floor was opened to questions.

“It is not often that we get an opportunity to meet the whole Valcare team and be in the same room, at the same time. It was amazing to learn that each team member is enthusiastic, full of positive thoughts and energy,” said Colleen Douglas from Franschhoek Hospice.

For the second part of the event, the organisations moved to the garden area where they spent time speed networking, sharing contact details and goals for 2022.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to be together in person after over two years. To be reminded of the common goals we have, to laugh and build lasting relationships. Thank you Valcare for a great event,” Stephanie Henderson from Ma’s vir Wellington.

After the speed networking activity, the organizations enjoyed a delicious breakfast and continued to connect, network and enjoy the view.

“We have never encountered a social investor that supports organisations with so much heart. It is a great privilege to be part of this positive movement.” – Nicol Truscott, Hear X Foundation.
